Co-President & CEO of Pro-Change Behavior Systems, Inc. to serve as Keynote Speaker at upcoming  American Heart Association Go Red for Women Luncheon

The American Heart Association announced that Sara S. Johnson, Ph.D.,  Co-President and CEO of Pro-Change Behavior Systems, Inc. will serve as the Keynote Speak at the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Luncheon, scheduled for Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Rhode Island Convention Center.

“I am honored to join the American Heart Association in pursuing their goal of relentlessly supporting women’s health,” said Sara Johnson.  “Change does start with a heart to heart, and I’m looking forward to sharing some simple tips from behavior change science about how to make those heart to hearts count at the 2019 Go Red for Women Luncheon,” she said.

As Co-President & CEO, Dr. Johnson leads business development and strategy initiatives for Pro-Change Behavior Systems, a behavior change science consulting and solution provider whose mission is to optimize health and well-being. Sara brings to her role more than 20 years of experience developing evidence-based behavior change solutions in a variety of domains, including weight management, smoking cessation, medication adherence, and medical education. In 2018, Dr. Johnson received the Health Enhancement Research Organization’s Mark Dundon Research Award and was named the Health Care Services Woman to Watch by Providence Business News. She was selected as a Top 10 Health Promotion Professional by the Wellness Council of America in 2015.

In her more than 20 years at Pro-Change, Sara has been the principal investigator on more than $6 million in National Institutes of Health grants to examine the effectiveness of evidence-based health and well-being interventions and has more than 40 publications. She is currently leading new research initiatives to integrate individual- and culture-level interventions to enhance well-being; increase engagement with evidence-based mobile apps that promote behavior change; and develop interventions for pain self-management and sleep.

Sara received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island and is an adjunct faculty member to the Psychology Department

The American Heart Association Go Red for Women Luncheon is a celebration of its commitment to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke in women. Heart disease and stroke remain the nation’s leading health threats to women but there is good news. These diseases are 80% preventable with education and lifestyle changes. Guests are invited to wear red, share stories of prevention and survival, and advocate for women’s heart and brain health.

The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Luncheon is the “must attend” social event of the season. People come together to network with peers and socialize with some of the area’s most influential people. It also recognizes and celebrates excellence in heart and stroke science, research, health care, treatment and community involvement.
