Ride the Revolution for Inaugural CycleNation Event in Providence

Get ready to ride the revolution! The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) is hosting the first-ever CycleNation event in Providence on Tuesday, October 29th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Skyline at Waterplace  located at 1 Finance Way in Providence.

This high-energy, endorphin pumping, indoor stationary cycling event, chaired by Kristin Fraser, former president of the Southern New England American Heart Association Board of Directors and managing partner at KPMG, LLP will welcome more than 200 people to raise lifesaving funds for heart disease and stroke research in our community.

The day begins with registration at 4 p.m. where participants, their friends, co-workers and family can get ready to ride one of the 50 stationary bikes. Each rider enjoys a high-energy stationary cycling session led by local instructors before handing off to another team member. Each team can have up to eight riders. Cycling will take place between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. with a 21 and up after-party to follow from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. featuring appetizers and a cash bar.

The goal of this inaugural event is to use cycling to improve heart and brain health, while raising funds to continue the AHA/ASA’s vital community programs, lifesaving research and advocacy efforts to end heart disease and stroke.

CycleNation and Heart Walk Director Deb Honor encourages people to register now for this first-ever event in Providence. “My goal with this brand-new event is for people to have a great time, network and with each mile pedaled to come one step closer to erasing the risk of stroke,” said Deb.

Both her father and paternal grandfather had suffered from two strokes each – her grandfather died after the second stroke

“Bringing stroke awareness to Southern New England is so important because stroke is the number five killer of men and women in the United States but it is the number one cause of disability,” said Deb.

Company and community teams are welcome. All riders must register online at cyclenation.org/providenceri to start a team or join a team.  You may also contact Deb Honor to sign up your team and for more event information [email protected] CycleNation is Nationally sponsored by Amgen. The local sponsor is KPMG and Robinson & Cole LLP.
