From now until December 16, 2018, CVS Health is offering free biometric screenings for you and your family to help identify chronic conditions before they become life-threatening illnesses.

Biometric screenings offer an important snapshot into your overall wellbeing.

“We all carry a lot of numbers around with us.  We know our cell phone number, PIN numbers, and email passwords,” said Dr. Jennifer Jarbeau, the Board President of the American Heart Association of Southern New England, and a Cardiologist at Kent Hospital. “Isn’t it important to know the most important numbers of all – the ones which affect your health?” said Dr. Jarbeau.

The free biometric screenings will measure things like body mass index, blood pressure, glucose and total cholesterol. The screenings will also offer an individual health access plan, professional consultations, smoking cessation counseling and diabetes resources.

“Many people have unrecognized medical conditions which can significantly impact their health and well-being,” said Dr. Jarbeau. “Having your glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol numbers, and BMI measured is an important step in ensuring that your health is the best it can be. Tracking these numbers should start in childhood to ensure that children are following healthy practices too.”

The health screenings are in select CVS Pharmacy stores only. They run from 2 pm – 6 pm most Thursdays through Sundays. The next free health screening is taking place on Thursday, October 11th, in Providence at the CVS Pharmacy located at 400 Admiral St.
